When I was very young Alex Higgins was a friend of my Dad. He would bounce me on his knee and I called him Uncle Alex. My Dad would drive him around to tournements but Alex was too cheap to pay for gas so the friendship ended. 6 weeks later he won his first world title. Years latr my Dad was in the audience watching him play and Alex spotted him in the crowd. First thing he asked my Dad was "hows John". He remembered.
